Village Classes

Spring 2007

Hickory, Dickory, Tickle and Bounce is focused on further
feeding a baby's language development through the rhythmic nature of nursery
rhymes. You and your child will also discover plenty of implied movement
activities throughout the semester with many additional movement concepts -
like up and down - incorporated into the literature book. Favorite songs and
activities from
Hickory, Dickory, Tickle and Bounce include "Peek-a-boo," "Baa
Baa Black Sheep," "Beat the Drum," "Roll That Ball," "Sulla Lulla," and "The
Blackbird."
Research shows that the more you expose your baby to nursery rhymes and
songs, the stronger those emerging language-learning skills will be. That's
why these Mother Goose-like stories and rhymes are the main theme of this
session. With a home CD of recordings from class, you'll develop
research-proven communication strategies with your child through listening
activities, speaking "parentese," and sign language.

With an introduction to sign language and highlighted by the concept of a
family's daily rituals and routines,
The Rhythm of My Day is designed
to help parents incorporate music into many of the regular routines found
throughout their daily life. Lesson focuses also highlight several other key
concepts like diversity of sound, stop and go, syncopation, and singing.
Favorite activities and songs featured in
The Rhythm of My Day include "Let
Me Call You Sweetheart," "Golden Slumbers," "Walk All Around," and "Ally
Bally."
This 8-week session will help your baby develop lasting learning skills. We'll
show you how and tell you why music can help your little one soothe herself
and help to build a strong network for learning in her body and mind. With a
CD of music from class you can bring home those same stress-free play and
relaxation techniques and incorporate them into your daily routines.
